Digestive Problems and Bioenergy: How to Calm the Stomach and Belly
A tight stomach before an important conversation, bloating after a long day, or a stomach that acts up the moment things get complicated. Digestive problems linked to stress are among the most common complaints today, and many people live with them for years, thinking it is simply part of who they are. In this article we explain why stress affects digestion so strongly, how bioenergy views digestive problems, and how a bioenergy treatment can help the body calm down and return to balance.

The most common digestive problems: stomach pain, bloating and heartburn
Digestive problems are not a single diagnosis but a group of complaints that, for many people, get worse in stressful periods. They most often appear before or during tense situations, but they can also last for days when life is fast and full of obligations. They are most often recognized by these signs:
- stomach pain and abdominal cramps
- bloating and a feeling of fullness even after a small meal
- heartburn and belching
- nausea, especially in the morning or before important events
- constipation or diarrhea, often alternating
- loss of appetite or, on the contrary, a need to snack constantly
For many people, stomach pain, bloating and heartburn get worse at the same time as worry, sleeplessness or tension in the shoulders. This is no coincidence: the body reacts to stress as a whole, and digestion is one of the first places where it shows.
Why stress hits the stomach in particular
The digestive system has its own very dense network of nerves that is constantly connected to the brain. That is why the belly is often called our “second brain”. When we are under stress, the body switches into a state of alert: breathing becomes shallower, muscles tighten, and digestion comes last. Energy is directed to where the body thinks it is needed more, so the stomach and gut work more slowly and less regularly.
If this state lasts for weeks or months, the body forgets what relaxation feels like. The stomach stays tight even after the stressful situation has passed. Read more about how tension affects the whole body in the articles how stress affects the flow of energy in the body and how to calm anxiety.
How bioenergy views digestive discomfort
In bioenergy the body is seen as an energetic whole in which energy should flow freely. The abdominal area, around the solar plexus, is considered one of the main energy centers of the body. According to the experience of bioenergy practitioners, this is exactly where suppressed worries, fear and long-term tension most often settle.
When energy in that area slows down or becomes blocked, it can be felt as heaviness, cramping or restlessness in the stomach. That is why bioenergy does not approach digestive discomfort through the stomach alone, but through the whole body and the state the person is in.
In 38 years of work, Vlasta Jašćur has met many people for whom digestion was the first sign that the body was carrying too much. A common story is that of a person whose medical results are fine, yet the symptoms return in every stressful period.
How bioenergy can help
Bioenergy works with a person’s energy field and helps the body find its own way back to balance. A bioenergy treatment does not replace diet, medication or a doctor’s advice; it works at the level where stress most often settles: in the tension, restlessness and exhaustion of the body.
How bioenergy has a positive effect
- Calms the abdominal area. Helps cramps and the feeling of tightness in the stomach ease.
- Reduces overall tension. When the whole body relaxes, digestion relaxes too.
- Restores the flow of energy. Energy that got stuck in the center of the body flows more freely again.
- Helps you cope with stress more easily. After a treatment many people react more calmly to situations that used to “sit in their stomach”.
- Supports better sleep. A rested body finds it easier to bring digestion back to its natural rhythm.
What people feel
Many people already feel warmth in the abdominal area during the treatment, deeper breathing and a relaxation that spreads through the whole body. Some notice that their stomach has “gone quiet”, others that after the treatment they felt real hunger for the first time in a long while. Experiences are individual, and people have shared some of them in the article bioenergy experiences.
Why it also helps in the long run
When the body lives in tension for a long time, that tension becomes a habit. Bioenergy helps the body feel again what calm is like, and a body that remembers it returns to balance more easily when a new stressful period comes. That is why many people do not see bioenergy as a one-time fix, but as support that accompanies them through more demanding periods.
Crystal therapy as additional support
Crystal therapy is a separate treatment that complements bioenergy well, but it is not done at the same time. During crystal therapy the person lies down and the crystals are placed around the body. For tension in the abdomen, crystals traditionally associated with calm and balance are used, for example citrine, which is linked to the solar plexus area, and amethyst, which is associated with peace.
Which crystals will be used is decided individually, after a conversation about how the person is feeling.
What a treatment looks like
The treatment begins with a conversation about when the symptoms appear and what is happening in life during that period. During a bioenergy treatment the person sits or stands, stays dressed and does not need to prepare anything special.
Treatments take place in a calm space in Zagreb, and for those who cannot come in person there is also distance bioenergy therapy. Read more about the method itself on the page Bioenergy: what it is, how it works and what a treatment looks like.
Small habits for better digestion
The calm the body feels during a treatment is easier to keep with a few simple habits:
- Eat slowly and sitting down, without your phone and without rushing. The stomach works better when the body knows it is safe.
- Before a meal, take a few deep breaths into your belly and exhale slowly.
- After eating, take a walk of about ten minutes instead of sitting straight down at the computer.
- Try to eat at roughly the same time every day.
- On days when you are particularly tense, do not drink coffee on an empty stomach.
- In the evening, leave enough time between dinner and going to bed.
- When you feel a cramp, place your palm on your belly and breathe calmly for a few minutes.
When to see a doctor
See a doctor if the symptoms appear for the first time after the age of 50, or if you notice blood in your stool or black stool, unexplained weight loss, difficulty swallowing, frequent vomiting or severe pain that wakes you up at night. It is also wise to see a doctor when the symptoms last for weeks without improvement.
